Why Replace Worn Keys

A worn key wears the lock cylinder wafers along with it. Once the key no longer turns smoothly, the cylinder starts to wear unevenly, and eventually neither the old key nor a freshly cut one works well. Cutting a new key from an existing good key, or by code from the lock, before the original is badly worn preserves the locks for the life of the car.
