Big flared holes take the most weight out of the sheet and give the bold, open look that shows up on competition cage work, while the formed lips around each hole keep the gusset rigid.

Skip the Die Set

A 42mm dimple die and the press to run it are a serious investment for a one-car project. These plates exist for the shop or home fabricator who does not want to take the time, or buy the tooling, to make their own dimple plates for a cage. Cut what you need from the sheet and the forming is already done.

When to Use 42mm

Pick the 42mm pattern for large, visible gussets at the main hoop, A-pillar and door bar intersections, and anywhere the goal is maximum weight reduction on a plate that is still backed up by the tubes it joins. For small brackets with less room between holes, the 20mm plate is a better fit.

Usage Notes

Just cut to your desired length and width and weld in. The zinc coating prevents rust in storage and transit, and it has to be sanded off at every weld area before you strike an arc.
