ISR Performance OE Replacement RWD SR20DET Cam Angle Sensor O-Ring

The cam angle sensor (CAS) on a Nissan RWD SR20DET is driven off the end of the exhaust cam and sealed to the head by a single O-ring. This ISR Performance OE replacement cam angle sensor O-ring replaces that seal, curing the classic oil leak that appears at the CAS housing after the sensor has been rotated for a timing adjustment or removed for a swap.

Why it leaks

The CAS gets loosened and turned every time ignition timing is set, which drags the O-ring across its bore. Add decades of heat and the rubber loses its elasticity. Oil then tracks down the back of the head and drips onto the transmission, often misdiagnosed as a valve cover or rear main leak.

Install tip

Mark the CAS position before removal so base timing can be returned close to where it was, fit the new O-ring with a light coat of oil, and verify timing with a light after reinstalling.
